The Venice Climate Lab (VCL) is a group of experts in climate change with different backgrounds, who recognizes art and creativity as powerful connectors between people and science.
VCL organizes and promotes events at the intersection of art and climate science, to build opportunities to communicate the consequences of climate change on society, economy and the environment.
We can no longer ignore the consequences of climate change, which indeed is an urgent problem, but at the same time also an opportunity. And we cannot just acknowledge that climate change is happening. We need action.
We need a place, a laboratory of ideas where to discuss, envision, create.
VCL presents the “Climate Days”, an event where climate science meets art and creativity to raise awareness about climate change.
Climate Days will take place on September 28, 29 and 30 (in collaboration with the European Researchers’ Night 2017)
Other side events are planned through the period May-December 2017.
Venice is not only a World Heritage Site at the disposal of visitors. It is not just beauty, art and culture. It is a city with a strong identity, made of water and old buildings. A city that lives with the rhythm of tides, continuously changing and adapting within the nature that hosts it from centuries.
Venice is a global symbol of fragile coastal environments threatened by rising sea levels and a climate change hotspot in the Mediterranean. We chose Venice because its fragility can inspire an encouraging climate resistance.
